Have a Dental Problem That Needs Prompt Attention?
When a dental problem pops up unexpectedly, you don’t know if you need a filling, crown, root canal, extraction, or something else. What matters first is figuring out what’s going on and how urgent it is.
Kingsway Family Dentistry offers emergency dental care in Beamsville for patients with tooth pain, broken or chipped teeth, dental injuries, swelling, lost fillings or crowns, and other unexpected oral health issues. Same-day emergency appointments are available whenever possible. Call our office and tell us what happened, and we’ll help figure out what to do next.
What Dental Problem Are You Experiencing?
My Tooth Suddenly Hurts
New or worsening tooth pain can have many causes, including tooth decay, infection, gum problems, damage, or inflammation within or around the tooth. An exam will help determine where the pain is coming from and what treatment may be needed. Depending on the cause, treatment may involve a tooth-coloured filling, dental crown, root canal therapy, extraction, or another form of dental care.

I Broke or Chipped a Tooth
A chipped, cracked, or fractured tooth should be evaluated to determine how much tooth structure is affected and if the tooth can be restored. Treatment depends on the location and extent of the damage. Kingsway Family Dentistry offers options including tooth-coloured fillings for minor damage, dental bonding for cosmetic repair, and dental crowns when extra strength and protection are needed.

My Filling, Crown, or Bridge Came Off
A lost filling, crown, or bridge can leave the affected tooth sensitive or vulnerable to further damage. If a crown or bridge has come off, keep it in a safe place and don’t chew on that side until you can see a dentist. Kingsway Family Dentistry can evaluate the affected tooth and determine if a restoration can be re-cemented, repaired, or replaced. Any underlying decay or damage can also be assessed before treatment is recommended.

I Have Swelling
Swelling in the gums, jaw, or face can sometimes accompany a dental infection or abscess and should be evaluated as soon as possible, especially if it’s accompanied by significant pain or other symptoms. Call Kingsway Family Dentistry and tell us what’s going on so we can figure out how urgently you need to be seen. Treatment will depend on the source of the swelling and the condition of the affected tooth and surrounding tissues.

My Tooth Was Knocked Out or Injured
A knocked-out tooth or other dental trauma requires timely attention. Call Kingsway Family Dentistry as soon as possible and tell us exactly what happened so we can give you instructions and book an emergency appointment when possible. The Canadian Dental Association’s dental emergency guidance also provides first-aid information for knocked-out and broken teeth. If a tooth has broken, save any pieces you can find and bring them with you to your appointment.

Not Sure If It's a Dental Emergency?
You don’t need to diagnose the problem before calling. Call Kingsway Family Dentistry if you have a dental problem that’s painful, getting worse, interfering with eating or sleeping, or occurred because of an injury.
Tell our team:
- What happened
- Where you’re experiencing the problem
- When it started
- How severe your symptoms are
- Whether there is swelling or bleeding
- Whether a tooth, filling, crown, or bridge has broken or come out
This information will help us understand your situation and determine how quickly you should be seen. Kingsway Family Dentistry prioritizes urgent dental concerns and offers same-day and last-minute emergency appointments whenever possible.
When to Seek Medical Emergency Care Instead
Some situations are beyond emergency dental care. Difficulty breathing or swallowing, significant facial swelling that’s affecting your airway, severe facial trauma, uncontrolled bleeding, or other life-threatening symptoms require immediate medical attention.
Call 911 or go to an emergency medical facility rather than waiting for a dental appointment. For more information about when to use emergency medical services, see the Ontario government’s emergency room guidance.

What Happens During an Emergency Dental Visit?
1. We Assess the Immediate Problem
Your dentist will ask you about your symptoms and examine the affected tooth, gums, or surrounding area to better understand the immediate issue.
2. We Identify the Likely Cause
Diagnostic imaging, including digital X-rays, may be required when necessary to evaluate areas that can’t be fully assessed through a visual exam alone.
3. We Discuss the Appropriate Care
Once the problem has been evaluated, we’ll explain the treatment options and recommend an appropriate next step based on your dental needs. Depending on the diagnosis, treatment could be a filling, dental crown, root canal therapy, extraction, bonding, or another procedure.
4. We Address the Problem or Plan Follow-Up Care
Depending on the condition and treatment required, care may be done during the emergency appointment or as a follow-up procedure. Kingsway Family Dentistry offers general dentistry and restorative dental services in the same Beamsville office, including CEREC same-day crowns.
